When it comes to what's too high priced the market will decide that. Sure there is cheaper out there aswell, heck there's freeware to but a company does'nt have to go there to compete. Trash is priced less or equal to many other plugins when you buy multiple plugins to equal it or stuff like Eventide's new H3000 factory multi-effecter ($349). Trash 2 has a delay section and convolution section unlike Saturn. Ozone has so many different algorithms that it would take fabfilters whole plugin line to compare and fabfilter charges around $200 per plugin unless you buy their bundle wich is still high priced. In many cases Izotope is much cheaper then Fabfilter since Izotope plugins are Multi-Algorithm plugins with high degree of flexibility and Fabfilter plugins are generally single algorithms. Trash price directly threw Izotope is $249 wich is naturally going to be higher then the price of the retail stores outlets that izotope uses wich in general charge $179-$199, not much of a difference. Saturn can only be bought threw Fabfilters website so the $164 is regular price. Fabfilter Saturn costs $164 wich is'nt much different price then Trash 2. Moreover, you never know when iZoptope make an advanced version for 899$ġ. ![]() That's what I do - just hope that iZotope would reconsider their price-policy in generel. Has anyone done any tests to compare processing cost between v1 and v2 on identical settings? If the sync behaviour is updated to either match v1 or to offer both tempo sync and proper host sync then I am all in! :] What's the point of having musical subdivisions if they are not in sync with the music? If you look in the options you can see that v2 does know your transport position within the track as reported by the host (as well as your current time signature and transport status) but unfortunately does not sync to it.Īpart from that one issue I think Izotope have done a fantastic job of updating and subtly improving a (IMHO) modern classic without taking any steps backwards or losing what is so special about the original. In v2 when you set an LFO to sync with the host the LFO will simply match the tempo of the host but will not sync with it as such, making it hard to create consistent synchronised filter effects. The LFO will also modulate exactly the same way each time you play through a section, which is very important if you want a filter consistently opening on beat 2 and 4 of a bar for instance. In v1 when you modulate a filter with an LFO and set that LFO to sync with your host the LFO will stop modulating when the host transport is stopped. The filter sections are also where I've come across my only complaint (so far) with Trash 2. Being able to modulate both filter sections is another subtle but useful improvement. Also the resonance of the filters is reflected in the GUI now where I don't believe it was in v1. The addition of direct text entry in the filter sections is great, especially when dialling in or tweaking modulated filter nodes. The GUI seems to be an improvement all round! Slightly larger, clearer displays, better metering and the weird perspective correction look has been dropped in favour of a 'flatter' look that's far superior to my eyes. I can dial in the same sounds that I do with v1 and it's even easier to tweak and interface with. ![]() Had a quick play of the demo and it seems pretty damn cool! A lot of the distortion algorithms sound virtually identical to v1 to me, which I personally very much like (I've gotten to know some of them quite well over the years!). probably one of the first plug-ins I ever purchased and I still love it!
